May Street Market is really an underrated restaurant in Chicago. Granted, there is an exorbitant amount of great food in Chicago, I really like what May Street Market is doing. They focus on local and sustainable food in really beautiful dishes that are very reasonably priced.
Monday through Wednesday they have a $25 prix fixe menu and BYOB with no corkage fee. Their prix fixe menu is one of the best deals you can get, especially with the quality of food you are getting. Most of their fare is American with touches of Asian inspirations. Their menu is simple and changes seasonally.

My favourite's a shredded beef burrito with half black / half pinto beans, half salsa / half hot sauce, with sour cream and cheese. - Posted by John Ryan

I love the ambiance of the place, very old, vintage, French looking, makes me feel like you're eating in a cafe in Paris, instead of in Santa Monica.
And the food is amazing! Ordered my first French Toast here (I know, I'm always a late bloomer), and it was the best way to experience a French Toast. My friend ordered a Croque Madam, and it was absolutely delicious. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it, it was one of those nice little things you do for yourself once in a while, you know? - Posted by Caroline Hadilaksono

Joe's Stone Crab, also known as Joe's Stone Crabs, is an American restaurant in Miami Beach, Florida. The restaurant was opened in 1918, by Joe Weiss, who began his Miami Beach career by cooking at Smith's Casino beginning in 1913.
Even though stone crabs are their most famous dish now, fish was served, rather than crabs, after the restaurant's opening. When an ichthyologist asked Weiss why he didn't serve stone crabs, he answered that no one would want to eat them. He turned out to be wrong, as they found out soon after first cooking them.

Po'Shines is a non-profit soulful food experience that provides training and counseling to youth in Portland using the proceeds.
Known for great fried catfish & chicken, bbq ribs, pork and brisket. You won't regret trying the hush puppies, and washing them down with their secretive "Sorrel" hibiscus drink, which is delightfully served in a Kerr jar. Food is more than fairly priced, and the presentation is superb.
Walk up to the counter to order/pay, atmosphere is casual, and the volunteer staff is always friendly. This caliber of southern food is hard to find in Northwest!

Fresh, local, unique. Their ever-changing menu has a true Pacific Northwest feel to their food. Hands down, my most memorable food experiences have been at Veritable Quandary.
My last two dinners at VQ were: (April, 2010)
Hawaiian Walu with Basmati Rice Verde: Dungeness Crab, Fresh Mango, Cilantro & Lime Slaw ($27)
Crispy Duck Confit: Roasted Local Vegitables, Semolina Gnocchi ($22)
